Osvaldo Vela, a 38-year-old driver from Yonkers, New York, veered into the construction zone and struck Tucker. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, Tucker was pronounced dead shortly before 3:00 a.m..

Vela sustained minor injuries from the collision and was subsequently taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment. In the aftermath of the accident, the vehicle involved was towed from the scene, and I-95 North remained closed to allow for the investigation. The highway reopened just before 10 a.m..
