Milwaukee – A fan at an MLB playoff game has been terminated from her job after a video surfaced showing her threatening to report a fellow spectator to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The incident involving Shannon Kobylarczyk occurred during Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at American Family Field on Tuesday when the Los Angeles Dodgers took a 4-1 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the clip, Ricardo Fosado, a Latino Dodgers fan, questioned why nearby Brewers supporters were silent following a home run by Kike Hernandez. Kobylarczyk reacted aggressively, telling Fosado that “real men drink beer” and then suggested calling ICE on him. Fosado, who is a U.S. citizen and a war veteran, challenged Kobylarczyk’s remark, claiming that ICE would not take any action against him.

Fosado indicated that he felt welcomed by the majority of Brewers fans before Kobylarczyk’s derogatory comment, which he found offensive. Following the viral spread of the footage, Kobylarczyk was dismissed from her position at Manpower Group, a staffing agency in Milwaukee, which confirmed that she was no longer employed there. Additionally, she resigned from her role on the board of Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, which condemned her behavior.

As a result of their altercation, both Kobylarczyk and Fosado were banned from entering American Family Field. The Brewers organization has made it clear that they expect fans to treat each other with respect, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory comments based on race, gender, or national origin.

Despite the turmoil, Fosado shared that he did not aim for the video to gain widespread attention. He expressed sympathy for Kobylarczyk upon learning she had lost her job due to their confrontation. The Milwaukee Police Department also became involved, noting that Fosado was addressed for alleged disorderly conduct and public intoxication; however, he was not issued a citation.

Fosado, a U.S. citizen of Mexican descent, is a veteran who served in the Navy from 2001 to 2005, participating in operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He described his overall experience at the Brewers game as pleasant and appreciated the overall friendly atmosphere despite the incident.

The Brewers organization reiterated its commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans attending their games, stating that incidents like this do not align with the values of the franchise.

The events highlight ongoing issues regarding race and respect in sports environments, particularly in contexts that engage diverse groups of individuals. Following the viral video and subsequent fallout, discussions about appropriate behavior and inclusivity in sporting venues continue to gain traction.
