News Summary

Fairchild Equipment has acquired a 121,000 square foot facility in Milwaukee for $4.5 million to enhance its operations. This strategic move aims to consolidate operations and improve efficiency for its warehouse-related solutions. The new site, previously used as a distribution center, will feature an experience center for customer demonstrations as the company seeks to increase its local workforce by 20% within the next two years, contributing positively to the local economy.

Milwaukee – Fairchild Equipment is set to enhance its operations in Milwaukee by acquiring a new facility totaling 121,000 square feet. The Green Bay-based company has purchased the industrial property located at 5500 N. Lovers Lane Road for $4.5 million. This move is part of Fairchild Equipment’s strategy to accommodate its growing business in warehouse-related solutions.

The newly acquired property, which encompasses approximately 8.2 acres, was previously used as a distribution center by PepsiCo. The seller of the site was an affiliate of PepsiCo based in New York. Fairchild Equipment, which specializes in forklifts, rack systems, parts, and other warehouse-related equipment, has outgrown its current location in Menomonee Falls, where it operates two buildings totaling around 50,000 square feet and leases an additional 10,000 square feet.

President Van Clarkson has indicated that the company has experienced operational inefficiencies due to the distance separating the two buildings in Menomonee Falls. The new Milwaukee site will facilitate the consolidation of their operations into one location, helping to streamline processes and enhance productivity. In the initial phase, Fairchild may lease a portion of the facility, but the majority will be dedicated to its operations.

The Milwaukee facility is designed to meet the needs of the company’s expanding operations, featuring a large service shop, ample warehousing space, and approximately 10,000 square feet of office space. A significant aspect of the new facility will be the introduction of an “experience center”. This area is specifically designed for customer demonstrations, allowing clients to review and experience various storage solutions offered by Fairchild Equipment directly.

Currently, Fairchild Equipment employs around 400 people across the Upper Midwest, with 100 to 120 staff located in the Milwaukee area. With the move to the new facility, the company aims to increase its local workforce by 20% within the first year or two of operations. This workforce expansion is expected to contribute positively to the local economy as more job opportunities become available.

Fairchild Equipment’s expansion into Milwaukee signifies a commitment to growth and service enhancement within the region. The acquisition of the new facility represents not just an increase in physical space, but also an opportunity to bolster its service capabilities and operational efficiency in the fast-evolving industry of warehouse management solutions.

The company has emphasized its dedication to customer service and operational excellence, making this expansion a strategic development in response to current demands in the market for warehouse equipment. Fairchild Equipment’s investment in its Milwaukee operations aligns with its long-term goals of establishing a more robust presence and better serving its clientele in the area.
