Medina County, Texas – All construction activities have been halted at a construction site for a large data center following a fatal incident involving a worker. The mishap occurred around 10 a.m. on Monday when the worker was struck by an articulating truck. The name, gender, and age of the deceased have not yet been made public.

The site, located on County Road 683, is part of a project known as the “Cinco Project” and is being developed in collaboration by Turner Construction and Rowan Digital Infrastructure. Since the accident, Turner Construction has announced that construction will remain suspended while investigations are carried out.

A witness, Quentin Ashcraft, who lives nearby, reported seeing multiple ambulances and a line of gravel trucks at the scene during the incident. Prior to the accident, Ashcraft had expressed concerns over safety at the construction site, particularly regarding the operation of heavy machinery.

Turner Construction is currently cooperating with investigators from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. The company has also stated that it is committed to discovering the cause of the accident to prevent similar situations in the future. In light of the tragic event, counseling services will be made available for employees affected by the incident.

Both Turner Construction and Rowan Digital Infrastructure extended their condolences to the family of the deceased worker, demonstrating their support during this difficult time. As of Wednesday afternoon, however, there has been no response from representatives of the sheriff’s office regarding further details of the investigation.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also been contacted for potential involvement in the investigation. However, due to a federal government shutdown, OSHA was unavailable for comments and actions at this time.

As investigations proceed, the construction site will remain closed until all inquiries are completed to ensure the safety and well-being of all future workers and operations involved in the project.

The tragic incident has raised concerns about workplace safety, particularly in high-risk environments such as construction sites. Accidents involving heavy machinery often lead to serious injuries and fatalities, prompting discussions about improving safety standards and protocols in the industry.

As details emerge, the community in Medina County is left mourning the loss of the worker while hoping for a resolution that not only honors the memory of the deceased but also fosters a safer work environment moving forward.
