According to Captain Sean Barbabella, the attending physician, CVI is “benign and common,” particularly affecting individuals aged 70 and older. Symptoms associated with CVI can range from swelling, pain, and itching to more severe manifestations, including skin changes, ulcers, bleeding, or deep vein thrombosis.
